1. How are your models made?
Our models are all handcrafted by skillful and experienced craftsmen. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. All models are fully assembled and ready for display.
Our model ships are built to scale according to the original plans or pictures of the actual ship using "plank on frame" or "plank on bulk head" construction method.
Other models are handmade from scratch using metal sheets, welding, and painting.
2. How are your models measured?
All models are measured in inches and by their overall dimensions. For example, the length is measured from the tip of the bowsprit to the stern. The width is measured from tip to tip of the widest yard or frame. And the height is measured from the bottom of the stand to the tip of the highest mast.
3. What material do you use on the model?
We put the beauty of each model first, so we use the highest quality of metal and wood that are either locally available or from imported source such as rose wood, ebony, mahogany, teak, and western red cedar. All timbers are air dry or kiln dry before production to ensure our products withstand different climate across the globe.
4. How long it takes to build a model?
The build time varies from model to model but it takes approximately two hundred hours to complete a model such as our American Navy USS Constitution "Old Ironsides" model. Our certificate of authenticity will state the number of hours required to finish each stage in construction the model.
5. How do I place an order?
The easiest way is to place the order directly from our website by using the "Add to cart" display right next to the listing and continue with "Check out".
6. Payment Method
We accept all credit cards, personal or cashier's check.
7. Delivery
Most small parcel items will be shipped within 1-2 business days via FedEx Ground. The standard transit time with FedEx Ground is approximately 2-7 business days within the 48 states. We will provide you with a tracking number as soon as your order is shipped. Oversized items will be shipped via Ground Freight carriers such as ABF, Estes, Roadrunner, etc. Your model safely secured on a wood pallet and will get to your location in about 5-10 business days.
8. Packaging
Each model is individually packed in a carton box. On many models, a wooden frame is added for maximum protection. Most models are packed fully assembled. For sail boats, the masts are folded down to save shipping space. Setting up the masts is straight forward with our included instruction sheet

9. Natural Wood Color Variations
Wood is a natural material that has different colors, grain patterns and overall texture and appearance. All wood will change color under the effect of UV light and oxidation. Our products are made of natural wood, thus the final products' color may be different from the pictures on the web site or catalog or any pictures in email communication.
10. Other Conditions
Typographical and stenographic errors subject to correction. Purchaser terms inconsistent with those stated herein which may appear on purchaser's formal order will not be binding to Premier Handmade.
